EMDR Therapy for Women.

Services

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective form of psychotherapy used for processing traumatic memories, overcoming fears, and changing “stuck” thoughts or beliefs. It bridges the gap between the logical and the emotional. If you’ve ever thought “logically I know xyz, but I feel like abc”, EMDR could help. It is beneficial by itself or as an addition to talk therapy.

EMDR Therapy can take place in person, online, or during walk and talk sessions. It is time limited, typically between 8-16 sessions. Sessions take place weekly or twice a week.

Treatment Areas

While anxiety is my specialty, there are a number of concerns that we can address using EMDR therapy, including:

  • Trauma & PTSD —including single-event, complex, medical, or birth trauma, and their symptoms (flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance)

  • Panic attacks & panic disorder

  • Specific phobias (flying, needles, animals, driving, storms, etc.)

  • Complicated grief & loss

  • Depression and low self-esteem

  • Attachment wounds & relationship distress

Struggling with something not listed? Feel free to ask me about it. If I am unable to provide the best quality care for your situation, I will be happy to provide referrals to someone who can.

Concerns that I am unable to treat:

Because you deserve care that truly fits your needs, there are some concerns that fall outside the scope of EMDR-only treatment:

  • Eating disorders or substance-use disorders. If these surface, we’ll bring in—or refer you to—a clinician who specializes in that work.

  • Psychotic disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder).

  • Complex dissociative disorders (e.g., Dissociative Identity Disorder) or severe, uncontrolled dissociation.

  • Active suicidal ideation that requires a higher level of care such as intensive outpatient or inpatient support.

  • Unmanaged bipolar mania or other acute mood episodes that need medical stabilization first.

  • Court-mandated services. I don’t provide legally required treatment, formal evaluations, or courtroom testimony.

If any of these concerns apply to you, I’ll help connect you with the right resources so you receive the comprehensive, specialized support you deserve.
